# Geo-Detection and Redirection

How a shopper's country is detected, and whether they are redirected to it, depends on which kind of storefront you run.

## Liquid Storefronts

If the “Domain/Subfolder redirection” feature is enabled in the Global‑e Cross-border app, and subfolders or international-specific subdomains or top-level domains (TLDs) are configured for your store, Shopify automatically redirects the customer to their geo-detected country.

<Note>
  Due to regulations, Shopify never auto-redirects any shoppers that are detected as being from an EU country, and shoppers remain on the domestic experience.

### Customer Experience - Localized Journey

The customer country is automatically detected using Shopify's geolocation detection.
